Explore Milwaukee at the US NCVA Reunion – June 2020

North Point Llighthouse

Milwaukee is a city of nicknames! Some of our favorites are the Brew City, the Cream City, & the City of Neighborhoods. Why? You will have the chance to find out!

Milwaukee Food & City Tours is excited to host you on any of our 12 offerings during the Reunion that will guarantee you tour, cruise, learn about and taste the history of our great city. Some highlights include:

  • One highlight of the offered tours will be the USS Liberty Library Flag Raising. This special event will take you to the USS Liberty Memorial Library in Grafton, WI where they house ship artifacts and scrapbooks. A Navy flag raising ceremony at the USS Liberty Memorial Stone will be the cornerstone of the day.
  • The North Point Lighthouse at one point was the tallest lighthouse on the Great Lakes. The Lighthouse has a 74-foot tower and Queen Anne–style Keeper’s Quarters. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, it is located on a two-acre semi-wooded parcel between two ravines in Lake Park. Before its decommissioning in 1994, the Lighthouse contributed to Milwaukee’s trade and economic growth. It’s also one of oldest structures that stands in the now-urban area.
  • The lighthouse will be a stop featured on the Milwaukee Sightseeing tour. You can even climb to the top!
  • The War Memorial is Wisconsin’s most visible memorial to all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Services, and is committed to furthering a single, solemn mission: “Honor the Dead. Serve the Living”. Dedicated on Veterans Day in 1957 and designated a Milwaukee Landmark in 1974, the War Memorial Center is the stunning architectural achievement of renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen, whose works include the St. Louis Gateway Arch, New York’s JFK Airport and Dulles International Airport in Washington. This stop will also be featured on the Milwaukee Sightseeing tour.
  • Want to see Milwaukee by way of water? Set sail on Lake Michigan on the S/V Denis Sullivan, the world’s only re-creation of a 19th century three-masted, Great Lakes schooner. The S/V Denis Sullivan was completed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2000 by professional shipwrights and nearly 400 volunteers. This exclusive experience will sell out quickly and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis – register early to get your spot!
