U.S. Navy Cryptologic History

The Force Multiplier

U.S. Navy cryptologists play important roles in the history and defense of our nation. Cryptology and cryptography are critical to our seaborne power projection and protection of our Navy communications. However, U.S. Navy cryptology is better known today due to its role in the Pacific Theater during World War II from shore establishments, such as Stations CAST and HYPO, and deployed elements with THIRD and FIFTH Fleets.
