How to Contribute Content
We need you to submit content for our Website and CRYPTOLOG!
Our Association is certainly about camaraderie, reconnecting with shipmates, and reunions and we need articles, links, and downloadable files that address these subjects.
Articles
We are also about the legacy of our Navy and Navy cryptology in defense of our nation and our national interests. We can tell these stories without violating security restrictions or flaming others. We're looking for stories — Sea Stories, too — of Navy cryptology in our conflicts, from World War II to today, of Women in Cryptology, of surface, subsurface, and airborne cryptologic direct support.
Guidelines
Copyright | Authors of articles published on this website retain copyright to their materials. |
Politics | We do not publish partisan political statements or politically-charged content. |
Content |
Good Navy sarcasm and humor are fine. What is not fine are: profanity, insults, racism, or sexism. Decisions by the Web administrator and CRYPTOLOG Editor regarding violations of these standards are final. You may, of course, protest the decision. Good luck with that. |
Images |
Ensure that you have the copyright permission to use any images you submit. Caption your images—this is easy to do if you use the content editor; if you embed images in a document file, include the captions in the file and also send the image files separately from your document. |
Book Reviews |
We welcome your review of books whose subjects relate to the U.S. Navy, U.S. Navy cryptology, the history of cryptology, U.S. history, and so forth. Please include an image of the book cover with your article. Include all relevant publishing information (ISBN, Publisher, Publication date, and so forth). |
Sea Stories | YES! Send us your sea stories. |
Formats |
If you submit an article, use these file formats: .doc, .docx, or .txt. DO NOT submit a PDF document for CRYPTOLOG. The software used to create a PDF is not compatible with desktop publishing software. |
Editing | The Web administrator and CRYPTOLOG Editor will review and edit your website or CRYPTOLOG article for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. |
Review |
Authors must submit any content containing information of or references to their U.S. Navy cryptologic service or experience for formal Pre-Publication Review. Authors must submit to the administrator a copy of the results of the Pre-Publication review before their article will be published online or in CRYPTOLOG. |
Web Links
If you have a website user account and have been assigned Author access rights, you can submit a link to another Website for inclusion in our Links section.
Guidelines
Politics | We do not publish partisan political links or politically-charged content. |
Relevance | Check the link categories we have set up—in most cases, links you submit should “fit” in one of these. If you want us to set up another category, please email your suggestion to the administrator. |
Non-Commercial | We do not publish links to commercial Websites—that is, those whose primary purpose is to sell content (blogs), services, or retail items—because the U.S. NCVA will not endorse products or services. |
Source Content |
We do not publish links that include insults or profanity or that promote racism or sexism. Decisions by the administrator regarding violations of these guidelines are final. You may, of course, protest the decision and whine about political correctness. The administrator is a Chief and Chiefs are never wrong. |
Review | All submitted web links are reviewed by the administrator to ensure compliance with these guidelines and to assign them to the proper category. |
Reference Files for Downloading
Members may offer reference files for others to download from our website. These files must be relevant to the U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association, its purposes, and Navy cryptologic history. Each submitted file is reviewed prior to publication on our website.
