FAQ 0005
Why does my log-in fail when trying to access password
protected directory (PPD) files?
A log-in will typically fail for one of the following
reasons.
- The user name as entered is not found in the access
control list for the directory you're attempting
access
- The password entered does not match the password of
record for the user name being used.
- You are attempting to log into a directory that your
user name isn't authorized for access.
- The server misinterpited your request and has
sent you to the wrong directory
- Your browser has requested access to
author.exe.
Check the following:
- Check the date of
issue for the latest user names and passwords
activated. If you have recently submitted a request for a
NCVA Member PPD Access Account it may not have been
actived. If you didn't receive a response from the
WEB Master it probably was not actived.
- Check your "Caps Lock"
key. The web server is case sensitive
for both the user name and the password. Make sure you
correctly enter your user name and password paying
particular attention to the use and placement of
uppercase and lowercase characters.
- The password being used must be the one assigned to
the user name being used. (You can not mix and match user
names and passwords.)
- You must have a password to go with your user name.
The web server requires both a user name and a password.
You CAN NOT log-in using only one or the other. If you
did not provide the Web Master a password then you DO NOT
have a password and therefore will not be able to access
the limited distribution directories using your personal
user name.
- Make sure the login request window contains the
correct prompt
- NID PPD:
NID_or_Member_PPD_Access_Accounts
- NCVA Members Only PPD:
Member_PPD_Access_Account_Required
- NOT CORRECT: WRONG_DIRECTORY_AT_usncva.org
